Refunds:

A register receipt is required for all refunds. Refund periods on textbooks vary; please refer to your receipt for refund eligibility. DO NOT WRITE in new books until you are certain that you won't need to return them. New books must be in perfect condition for a full refund. Any new books that are wrapped in plastic must remain wrapped to be eligible for a refund.

Buy Backs:

Book Buy Back is always held during finals week at the end of every semester and we buy books during this time frame ONLY. There is no guarantee of a buy back; however Pioneer Mercantile strives to buy back as many textbooks as possible. Once quantity requirements have been met, any books with national demand may be bought from one of the other 3 companies we partner with. Nursing books are not eligible for book buy back. Prices quoted are based on “new” books, “used” books will be less. Pioneer Mercantile reserves the right to deny a buy back based upon the condition of the book.

Textbook Rental Policies:

All Students interested in renting textbooks must have a valid MCC I.D. and be registered for the current term. Students must have a valid credit card to rent books as this same card is charged if the student damages the book or fails to return it. Students may pay with cash, credit cards, personal check, or qualifying financial aid. Financial aid may ONLY be used for textbooks and supplies needed for classes.

Refund eligibility on textbook rental purchases will be noted on your receipt and varies for each semester.

All rented textbooks may be written in pencil only.  No highlighting or ink.   Failure to adhere with this policy will result in the full amount of the textbook being charged to the student. Lost, stolen and damaged textbooks are the responsibility of the student.

Returning Rental Textbooks:

All textbook rentals are due at Pioneer Mercantile by the close of business the day after final exams and are subject to review by a Pioneer Mercantile staff member. Failure to return the rented textbook by this time will result in the total purchase price charged to the student’s credit card. There is no guarantee of a buyback on a rented textbook that has been charged to your card.

At the discretion of the Pioneer Mercantile Manager, charges for rented textbooks not returned by the due date may be waived on account of sickness, injury, or family emergency provided the student contacts the bookstore to let them know the circumstances and when the student will be able to return the book.

Pioneer Mercantile Personal Accounts:

Pioneer Mercantile now has the option of personal declining balance accounts. Students may come into the bookstore and put money on account and use it to purchase any item in the store including books, clothing, general merchandise and food. This account may also be used in the cafeteria and is separate from the student’s meal plan account. There are no fees associated with adding funds to your personal account. Money can be added in person at the bookstore or by phone. Parents who call must have their students MCC I.D. number to give to the bookstore staff.
